Dutch Ingenuity: New Dutch Wave Hosts the Rising Star(t)s of StartupDelta and the Netherlands’ Tech Scene

As part of the New Dutch Wave initiative, StartupDelta, the Amsterdam-based public-private startup hub, is coming to SXSW Interactive to showcase some of the Netherlands’ most ingenious answers to everything from blockchain-based secure file sharing (Storro), to wearables that track your soccer and sports performance (DashTag). Both were chosen to be among 50 companies competing in this year’s SXSW Accelerator Pitch Event.

In addition, a total of ten innovative Dutch companies will compete in a face off at the New Dutch Wave House on March 12, 2018. The competition will be judged by HRH Prince Constantijn van Oranje, special envoy from the Netherlands and long-time champion of Dutch tech and culture.

BlueCity is an incubator for circular entrepreneurs in and around Rotterdam. Our hub in a deserted swimming pool and dynamic community of entrepreneurs, researchers, neighbours, government officials, and educators serve as a breeding ground for 25 innovative, circular companies linking their production waste streams.

The Netherlands has long used technological ingenuity to make the most of limited resources--and done so with a real knack for aesthetic beauty and civic progress. The companies encouraged as part of StartupDelta prove this technological knowhow can go global. Part of Europe’s tech renaissance, they are enriching the Dutch startup ecosystem, turning intriguing ideas into solid businesses.

Dutch scientists and inventors have laid the groundwork for the digital age, contributing to everything from CD technology to microchip printing. They have used technology to grow more food, to save more energy, to make city life more harmonious and efficient. Their companies range from highly specialized niche firms to the billion-dollar payment service Ayden (which just became the main payment processor for eBay).
